The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its deposit rate to 2.50% on September 10, and the Euro has fallen every session since. The Fed raised its own rate to 3.75-4.00% on Wednesday, by the same quarter point, and the day's drop was the biggest of the run.

Fed raises 2026 interest rate forecast to 4.1%, lifts PCE inflation projections
The Federal Reserve's (Fed) latest dot plot projections, released by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on Wednesday, show policymakers now expect interest rates to stand at 4.1% by the end of 2026, up from 3.8% in June.
The Canadian Dollar slips to a summer low on the Fed's rate hike
The Loonie trades at its weakest since early August, with USD/CAD just under 1.4000 after a 71-pip rise and a 0.51% gain. The Fed raised its rate a quarter-point to 3.75-4.00% and the Bank of Canada did not, which takes the distance between them from 1.375 points to 1.625.

The USD/JPY pair trades at fresh weekly highs in the 155.50 price zone after the United States (US) Federal Reserve (Fed) delivered the expected 25 basis point (bps) interest rate hike. The US Dollar (USD) resumed its weekly advance with the headlines, following a pause ahead of the announcement.

The Fed has raised its rate to 3.75-4.00%, its first increase since 2023 and its first move since the cut in December 2025. The rate it controls is the overnight one. Everything further out is set by people buying and selling bonds, and they have been selling.
The Pound sinks as the Fed overtakes the BoE
The Pound trades just under 1.3400, 91 pips lower and down 0.68%. The Fed took its rate to 3.75-4.00% and, measured at the midpoint of the new range, American money now pays more than British money for the first time this year.
