USD/JPY Retests 155 as Japan Raises Intervention Alert to High

USD/JPY climbed back to 155.10 this week, prompting Japanese Finance Ministry officials to issue their most strongly worded intervention warning to date. The Vice Finance Minister said authorities are monitoring exchange rate moves with "the highest level of vigilance" and reiterated they are "open to all means." Market participants note the last Japanese FX intervention in 2022 cost about $60 billion, and a new round could come at any time if current moves are deemed "excessively speculative." USD/JPY pulled back from 155.10 to 153.80 after the warning, but dollar bulls remain restless.
